How do i wash a wool rug and get juice stains out?

Where ever there are kids there will be juice stains on rugs.

This is my tried and true method, I've never had any problems with it... however, you may want to test on a less noticable spot of the rug in case of any color fast issues.

Place one dish towel under the rug where the stain is.

Sprinkle the stain with baking soda. Sprinkle regular white vinegar on top of the baking soda and let it foam. After it foams, scrub with another towel to blot. If necessary, repeat process.

Even with three day old cranberry juice I normally don't have to do this more than three times. And my rugs turn out so clean looking. How do i wash a wool rug and get juice stains out?
If it's WOOL, DON'T WASH IT. Water is not kind to wool fibers (think of anyone who had a favorite wool sweater that got washed in the laundry by mistake).

Excessive exposure to water will ruin your carpet (i.e. - putting it in a washing machine). Be careful to use a cleaner that has as neutral a pH balance as possible, and spot clean, if you can.

Best bet, go to a local professional dry cleaner and ask them for advice (especially where cleaning products are concerned). They might be able to point you in the right direction. How do i wash a wool rug and get juice stains out?
Pretreat the stain with some extra detergent, wash on cold/delicates cycle as your normally would and, DON'T put it in the dryer.
